Targeted relief for chronic tension, muscle knots, and deep-seated pain.
Deep Tissue Massage is a therapeutic massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue, tendons, and fascia. It uses slow, firm strokes and concentrated pressure to reach the sub-layer of muscles and the fascia (connective tissue surrounding muscles).
Unlike Swedish massage which focuses on relaxation, deep tissue massage is designed to address chronic muscle tension and "knots" (adhesions) that form from overuse, injury, or poor posture. It's particularly effective for areas of chronic pain and tension.
During your deep tissue massage, your therapist will use slower strokes and more direct pressure than in a Swedish massage. They may use their knuckles, forearms, and elbows to apply the necessary pressure to reach deeper muscle layers.
Communication is key—always let your therapist know if the pressure is too intense. Some discomfort is normal, but you should never feel severe pain. After the massage, you may experience some soreness for a day or two, similar to after a good workout.
